I've thought about taking an internet/computer vacation too. It's wicked hard trying not to sneak a peak at the news, or my blog, or discussion boards, or what's playing at the movie theatre, etc. etc. I'm proud of myself when I go a day or two without using it (which is rare). ha ha!

I think it's a good idea. I spend my day at work in front of the computer only to come home and get on it for the evening - ugh. I know I could really use one.

I really love your monsters. I think they are so unique...how do you think them up?? I think Miles will like them too!!

i also took a break from my blog this weekend and also feel the guilt. relatives were visiting from the west coast.

i think it would be healthy to take a break from even turning on the computer for at least a day a week. i feel like i spend way too many hours behind the screen.

A few months ago I started making some "rules" to limit my internet use and make my time online more efficient and productive. I think I end up wasting a lot of time checking blogs, sites, etc. too many times during the day. I only check my email twice a day- once when I wake up and once when I come home from work. (work email is the exception, and that I check throughout the day when I'm in my office) I check the blogs only once during the day when I get home from work, and I turn my computer off around 8pm. It's just too easy to mindlessly surf the web all the time and waste time otherwise!

Another rule I follow in general for my studio work is I give myself segments of time (like 1 month) where I only do studio work and completely ignore the PR and paperwork. Then I'll take a week break from the studio work and only do PR and paperwork. I find if I try to do both at the same time the studio work always suffers. All of this is such a tricky balance, and adding a baby to the mix makes it even tougher. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be a professional artist a century ago when maintaining an online presence wasn't necessary!

I am trying to be more disciplined, too! Setting some rules for myself and doing "ok" trying to follow them!

I am in the market for a new scanner, by the way...if you are loving the one you mentioned, let me know what kind it is :)
