Another sketch from an old photo of my nephew and my old cat. And that makes 21 days! Woo hoo!
Paola asked the other day if I 'made a habit' and I think I just might have! I'll continue the exercise, maybe not posting every day, but definitely trying to do it every day. Plus since so many of you joined the exercise later on, I'll have lots to look at and inspire me to keep going! I'll continue with action poses for a little longer too. I might try the above sketch in my 'style' of drawing children which can be tough for me to do with odd angles/positions.
I've always thought children are the toughest subject in terms of the human figure: their proportions make no sense when you compare it to an adult's proportions and it's also challenging to keep images of children from looking overly sentimental or corny. It's a great challenge, and so few people do it well, (Edward Gorey is a big standout) so I'll be interested to see how you tackle it. If you ever want an infant "model", my daughter is pretty fabulous to draw. I've been doing gesture drawings of her lately, and I've been endlessly fascinated by her proportions and the way she maneuvers.

has it been 21 days already? I was really enjoying the 21 day exercise, I though you really challenged yourself... I also think that you did a great job with the sketches! I have enjoyed your exercises and blog so much that I have added you (and Alicia Padron) to the side bar on my blog which I just recently started. I will miss the action sketches, sigh!

Congrats on the new habit, and sticking to it. And thanks for inviting the rest of us. It has been great so far; not sure I would be drawing as much without this to keep me motivated! I am enjoying it so much, it most likely will become a habit.
